Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 whole wheel of Brie cheese (812 oz)
  • 1 sheet of puff pastry, thawed
  • 1/3 cup dried cranberries
  • 1/3 cup chopped pecans
  • 2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Optional: pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Puff Pastry: Thaw the puff pastry according to package instructions. On a lightly floured surface, roll it out slightly to create an even layer large enough to wrap the Brie.
  2. Toast the Pecans: In a dry skillet over medium heat, toast the chopped pecans for 3-5 minutes until fragrant and lightly browned, stirring constantly to prevent burning.
  3. Assemble the Brie: Place the Brie wheel in the center of the puff pastry. Evenly sprinkle the toasted pecans on top of the Brie, then scatter the dried cranberries over the nuts. Drizzle honey or maple syrup over the toppings to add sweetness and help bind them.
  4. Wrap and Seal: Fold the puff pastry up and over the Brie, trimming any excess dough. Press gently to seal all edges neatly, and use remaining dough for decorative accents if desired.
  5. Apply Egg Wash and Bake: Brush the entire pastry with the beaten egg to achieve a golden-brown finish. Place on a baking sheet and bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 20-25 minutes, or until the pastry is puffed and golden brown.
  6. Serve Warm: Allow the baked Brie to rest for 5 minutes before slicing and serving to let the cheese soften without spilling out too quickly.

Notes

  • Let the Brie sit at room temperature for at least 30 minutes for creamier melting.
  • Distribute cranberries and pecans evenly for consistent flavor in every bite.
  • Keep an eye on baking time to prevent overbaking and drying out the Brie or pastry.
  • Rest the Brie after baking to allow the cheese to settle for easier slicing.
  • Use quality puff pastry for the best flakiness and taste.
