Instructions

  1. Prepare the Sweet Potatoes: Peel the sweet potatoes and cut them into evenly sized chunks, roughly 1 to 2 inches, to ensure they cook evenly and soften perfectly under pressure.
  2. Add to Instant Pot: Place the sweet potato chunks in the Instant Pot’s inner pot and add 1 cup of water to create steam for pressure cooking. Secure the lid and set the valve to sealing.
  3. Pressure Cook: Set the Instant Pot to high pressure for 8 minutes. After cooking, allow a natural pressure release for about 10 minutes, then switch the valve to venting to release any remaining pressure.
  4. Mash Them Up: Drain any excess water from the pot, add butter, milk (or dairy alternative), salt, pepper, and cinnamon if using. Mash with a masher, hand mixer, or immersion blender until smooth and creamy.
