Ingredients

Scale

Bread and Sandwich Fillings

  • White or brioche bread slices (enough for desired slider count)
  • Thinly sliced deli ham (approximately 2 slices per slider)
  • Swiss cheese slices (approximately 1 slice per slider)

Coating and Cooking

  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons milk (for egg wash)
  • Butter or oil (about 2 tablespoons for frying)

Finishing Touches

  • Powdered sugar (for dusting)
  • Berry jam or preserves (raspberry or strawberry, for serving)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the ingredients: Slice the bread into small squares or use pre-cut slider bread. Lay out your ham and Swiss cheese slices, ready for assembly. Beat the eggs with a splash (about 2 tablespoons) of milk to create the egg wash.
  2. Assemble the sliders: Place a slice of ham and a piece of Swiss cheese between two small bread pieces to make a sandwich. Repeat for the desired number of sliders.
  3. Dip in egg wash: Carefully dip each slider into the egg wash on both sides, ensuring all surfaces are coated thoroughly to achieve a crispy, golden finish once cooked.
  4. Cook the sliders: Heat butter or oil in a pan over medium heat. Fry each slider for about 3-4 minutes per side until both sides are a golden brown and the cheese has melted completely. Cook gently to avoid squashing the sandwich.
  5. Add finishing touches: Transfer the cooked sliders to a plate. Lightly dust them with powdered sugar. Serve alongside berry jam or preserves for spreading or dipping.

Notes

  • Don’t skip the egg wash: it creates the signature golden, crispy exterior.
  • Use thick slices of bread to prevent sogginess and keep the sliders intact.
  • Cook over medium-low heat to allow the cheese to melt without burning the bread.
  • Press gently while frying to help the sandwich hold together without squashing the fillings.
  • Serve sliders immediately for the best melty texture and crispy crust.
