Brownie Base
- 1/2 cup (115g) Butter
- 1 cup (200g) Sugar
- 1/3 cup (35g) Cocoa Powder
- 2 Large Eggs
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
- 3/4 cup (95g) All-purpose Flour (or almond/gluten-free flour for gluten-free option)
- 1/2 cup (90g) Chocolate Chips (optional)
Coffee Infusion
- 1/4 cup Strong Espresso or Coffee, cooled
Mascarpone Topping
- 1 cup (225g) Mascarpone Cheese
- 1/4 cup (30g) Powdered Sugar
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
- 2 tablespoons Cooled Espresso or Coffee
Garnish
- Cocoa Powder (for dusting)
- Finely Chopped Dark Chocolate or Chocolate Shavings (optional)
- Prepare the Coffee Infusion: Brew a strong espresso or coffee and set it aside to cool. This intense coffee will infuse the brownies with the classic tiramisu essence.
- Make the Brownie Base: Melt the butter and combine it with sugar and cocoa powder in a mixing bowl. Beat in the eggs and vanilla extract until smooth. Gradually add the flour to create a thick, fudgy batter. Optionally, fold in chocolate chips for extra chocolate flavor.
- Bake the Brownies: Pour the brownie batter into a greased baking pan. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20-25 minutes, until just set but still moist inside. Remove from oven and let cool completely.
- Prepare the Mascarpone Topping: Whip mascarpone cheese with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until creamy and smooth. Gently fold in the cooled coffee for that unmistakable tiramisu flavor.
- Assemble and Chill: Spread the mascarpone mixture evenly over the cooled brownie layer. Dust the top with cocoa powder or finely grated chocolate. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours to set flavors and texture beautifully.
Notes
- Use freshly brewed coffee for the best tiramisu flavor.
- Do not overbake the brownies; remove when a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs for fudginess.
- Chill overnight to enhance melding of coffee and mascarpone flavors.
- Use room temperature eggs and mascarpone for a smoother topping.
- Spread mascarpone topping gently to avoid disturbing the brownie base texture.
